Position: Associate Curator of Programs
Location: Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington, Seattle
Type: Full-Time
The Associate Curator of Programs at the Henry Art Gallery will develop and implement public programs that enhance the gallery’s mission of advancing contemporary art and fostering community engagement. The role integrates curatorial and educational strategies to create impactful experiences for diverse audiences, aligning with the gallery’s goals for accessibility and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development:
- Design and execute public programs, including lectures, panels, workshops, and performances, in collaboration with curatorial staff.
- Collaborate with artists, scholars, and community members to create innovative programming that reflects contemporary issues.
- Audience Engagement:
- Build meaningful connections with diverse local and regional communities.
- Develop initiatives to make programming accessible and inclusive for a wide audience.
- Collaboration:
- Partner with curatorial, education, and exhibition teams to integrate programs with exhibitions and collections.
- Work with University of Washington faculty and students to incorporate academic perspectives into programming.
- Administrative Duties:
- Manage program budgets, timelines, and logistics.
- Supervise interns, volunteers, and other team members supporting program delivery.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in art history, education, museum studies, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in program development or curatorial roles, with a focus on public engagement.
- Expertise in contemporary art and its intersection with education and community engagement.
- Strong project management skills, including budget oversight and team coordination.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in program development.
