You will be responsible for:
- researching M+ Collection and contemporary art in general, with a focus on contemporary Asian art and artistic practices in Mainland China, Hong Kong and other Asian & European countries;
- preparing and proposing acquisitions for the M+ Collection, in consultation with Lead Curator, Visual Art and assisting with research, communications, and coordinating of potential acquisitions with various external parties;
- organising and coordinating regular internal workshops and taskforce meetings for the curatorial planning of the museum opening collection display;
- managing curatorial projects, such as M+ Pavilion exhibitions, M+ Live Art and M+ Matters, as assigned; and
- contributing to the general development of the future M+, including different stages of the building’s development and of digital projects.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree relevant to Contemporary Art, Art History, Visual Culture, Museum Studies or other related disciplines;
- have 6-9 years of experience in curating exhibitions, public programs, interpretative programs, or working with a museum collection;
- showcase an excellent knowledge of contemporary visual art with a solid understanding of the art field in Asia;
- demonstrate experience of working in a museum setting or a large-scale arts organisation with international scope; and
- have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese and/or another Asian language.
