Associate, Full Curator

LACMA seeks an Associate / Full Curator with specific expertise in art produced in the United States between 1750-1950. Reporting to the Curator and Department Head of European Painting and Sculpture and American Art, the Associate / Full Curator will be deeply committed to LACMA’s mission of inclusive access, collaboration, and dialogue, and will be encouraged to work with colleagues across LACMA’s departments.

Responsibilities:

• Provide collaborative support and leadership for permanent collection installations for the new Geffen Galleries opening in 2024.
• Develop and foster exhibitions.
• Research and writing.
• Presenting acquisitions.
• Managing donor cultivation and support.
• Serves as a department liaison to Conservation, Education, and other departments within the Museum, all under the supervision of the Department Head.

Qualifications:

• MA, with preferred Ph.D. in art history or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in historical American Art.
• At least 5-7 years museum experience
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills are required
• Have a broad intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in connecting time periods, cultures, etc. in an encyclopedic museum context.
