NTU Singapore is seeking a Director for the Centre for Art, Science and Biocultural Ecologies (CASBE). The position concurrently carries a faculty appointment as Associate or Full Professor of Curatorial Practice within the School of Humanities (SoH). CASBE is the successor to NTU’s Centre for Contemporary Art and focuses on curatorial practice as research connecting art, science, and biocultural sustainability across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific.
Position Details
- Full-time appointment
- Senior leadership role directing CASBE
- Concurrent faculty position at Associate or Full Professor rank
- Key involvement in the Max Planck–NTU Singapore Centre for Biocultural Worlding
- Focus on interdisciplinary curatorial research, exhibitions, residencies, and academic programming
- Engagement with Gillman Barracks arts precinct
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the academic vision for CASBE in alignment with NTU and CoHASS
- Advance curatorial research and programming in Singapore, Southeast Asia, and the Asia-Pacific
- Co-direct the Biocultural Worlding project with the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science
- Contribute to the MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices
- Build interdisciplinary collaborations locally and globally
- Represent CASBE through academic and professional platforms
- Lead grant-funded projects and develop external partnerships
- Oversee outreach, industry engagement, and fundraising
- Manage finances, personnel, and operations with CASBE’s Senior Assistant Director
Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstrated leadership in contemporary curating and cultural, art–science, or communication programmes
- Track record in curatorial practice and/or related research
- Strong communication and partnership-building skills
- Proven experience securing and managing major funded projects
- Experience initiating research grants and third-party sponsored projects
- Preferably: expertise in contemporary art and cultural dynamics in the Asia-Pacific
- Preferably: PhD or equivalent qualification
