Associate Specialist, Contemporary Art

The Associate Specialist will focus on sourcing and selling works for Contemporary Art Sales, combining market expertise, research, and client advisory responsibilities. The role plays a key part in driving sales performance and contributing to long-term business development.

Responsibilities

• Source and sell works for Contemporary Art Sales
• Catalogue and research items to the highest scholarly standard
• Write catalogue entries and condition reports
• Coordinate research internally and with external experts
• Assist with paste-ups and catalogue layouts
• Liaise with internal support departments
• Source works for sale, including international travel when required
• Contribute to sales targets and net profit objectives
• Support strategic long-term business development
• Maintain high-level client service and relationship management
• Prepare proposals, valuations, and estimates
• Contribute to authentication and pre/post-sale processes
• Operate in compliance with corporate governance and legal frameworks

Ideal Experience & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of the Contemporary Art market
• Degree in Art History or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Experience with valuation and auction processes
• Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Capacity to work under pressure with flexibility
• Excellent client relationship management skills
• High integrity and understanding of compliance frameworks
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent English (additional European language desirable)
