About the Berlin Biennale:
Founded in 1996, the Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art is recognized nationally and internationally as one of the most important and outstanding biennials, not only because of its experimental, open, and context-based approach but also because of its committed profile. Every two years, the Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art brings together international artists, theorists, and practitioners in exhibitions and accompanying programs. It is shaped by different concepts from renowned curators. The upcoming 13th Berlin Biennale will be curated by Zasha Colah and will take place in the summer of 2025. Position Details:
- Part-time or full-time employment (m/f/d)
- Internship duration: Three months
- Work schedule: Four to five days a week
This position offers interns the opportunity to learn about individual workflows in the conception and realization of an international exhibition and gain experience in the field of contemporary art from an institutional perspective.
Main Tasks:
- Preparing and managing artist materials and various archives
- Conducting various research to prepare for the upcoming edition (on artists, national and international exhibitions, venues, themes)
- Preparatory measures for the realization of artists’ projects
- Supporting the compilation of materials for grant applications to international funding institutions
- Assisting with scheduling and travel coordination (research trips for the curator and general appointments of the artistic office)
- Supporting daily office administration
Requirements:
- Enrollment for the entire internship period
- Good MS Office and IT skills
- Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken
- Organizational talent, independence, teamwork, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and keen interest in the Berlin art and cultural scene
- Knowledge of additional languages
- Willingness to occasionally work in the evenings if needed and agreed upon
- Interest in topics such as diversity, inclusion, sustainability
