Position: Book Art Research Fellow
Stipend: $1,200
Duration: 2–3 weeks of on-site research (between April–December 2025)

The Center for Book Arts (CBA) invites scholars and researchers to apply for the 2025 Book Art Research Fellowship. This fellowship supports projects engaging with CBA’s unique collections related to book art history, literature, book history, library science, museum studies, and conservation studies.
Fellows will receive institutional support and access to CBA’s collections, which include:
- Fine Arts Collection: Artists’ books, prints, and objects.
- Reference Library: Focused on book arts theory, history, and practice.
- CBA Archives: Exhibition records and documentation of programmatic activities.
At the conclusion of the fellowship, fellows will present their research publicly, and CBA will have the first right of refusal to publish the research in the Book Art Review journal.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Open to researchers in art history, literature, book history, library science, museum studies, conservation studies, or related fields.
- The fellowship does not support the creation of artworks—only scholarly research.
- Fellows must spend 2–3 weeks on-site at CBA conducting research.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- Resume or CV
- 500–1000 word research proposal detailing:
- How CBA’s holdings relate to the project
- A short bibliography of at least 5 relevant works from CBA’s collection
- A proposed timeline for the research residency (April–December 2025)
