CALL FOR CURATORS: RECENT GRADUATE EXHIBITION AT THE AFFORDABLE ART FAIR NYC SPRING 2017 EDITION

ABOUT THE RECENT GRADUATE EXHIBITION
At every edition, Affordable Art Fair NYC hosts a Recent Graduate exhibition as part of the fair’s programming. Traditionally located in the entrance of the fair, the exhibition highlights artists that have graduated within the past three years from MFA programs and are not represented by a gallery yet. It also provides a platform for curators to develop their practice, experiment with ideas, form relationships and to expand their and the artist’s presence within the contemporary art community.
FAIR SCHEDULE:
Installation: Tuesday, March 28 – Wednesday, March 29 Private View: Wednesday, March 29
Public Hours: Thursday, March 30 – Sunday, April 2, 2017
De-Installation: Sunday, April 2 (Evening) – Monday, April 2, 2017 (Morning)
RECENT GRATUATES EXHIBITION RULES & REGULATIONS:
- The curator must research, select and submit a proposal of non-represented MFA graduate(s) who have graduated within the last 3 years to participate in the Recent Graduate exhibition
- All artists must be vetted by the fair
- The fair requests and the space allows for two-dimensional, wall-based works, sculpture, as well as light-weight, suspended works. In order to create an impactful entrance experience, light- weight suspended words are preferred.
- The fair accepts solo presentations or a multi-artist shows. This is completely up to the curator’s discretion.
- The fair does not allow fees to be charged for artists to submit work to be considered for exhibition
- The curator will adhere to exhibitor guidelines set forth for the Affordable Art Fair NYC, including installation and shipping specifics. A fair manual will be provided upon agreement.
- The curator will provide appropriate artwork and exhibition text for printed materials to the fair by deadlines TBD
- The curator will manage and organize all aspects of the allocated space, including sales, shipping, installation and de-installation
- The curator is requested to be on-site during all public hours as well as all special events, including Private Preview (Wed., March 29, 6-9pm), Art After Dark (Thur., March 30, 6-9pm) and Free Admission night (Fri., March 31, 6-8pm).
- The Affordable Art Fair suggests that 50% of sales made on site be given to the artist.
AFFORDABLE ART FAIR NYC WILL PROVIDE
- Exhibition space on-site. Assignment and size will be the sole discretion of the Affordable Art Fair, but will be agreed upon before research for artist commences.
- Inclusion of the exhibition in the following printed and digital materials:
- Dedicated mention and inclusion in a series of print and digital marketing materials such as: the fair guide, on-site signage, programming page on the Affordable Art Fair NYC website, blog, newsletter (30,000 subscribers), Affordable Art Fair NYC’s social media channels
- 50 complimentary digital Private Preview passes and 50 complimentary digital day passes
- Liability Insurance covered by Ramsay Fairs LLC/Affordable Art Fair NYC for the duration of the fair
- Scissor lift rental, if required, for day of installation and de-installation
- $500 stipend for the curator

- Curator’s CV
- Proposed artist list and artist’s CV(s)
- A minimum of three artwork images (including full captions) per artist and list of proposed artworks for the Recent Graduate Exhibition at Affordable Art Fair NYC
