For 20 years, Bâtard has been a platform for artistic experimentation and collaboration, fostering dynamic engagement across disciplines. As it transitions into a new phase, Bâtard is seeking imaginative and community-oriented curators to shape its future direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a visionary direction for Bâtard as a contemporary arts platform.
- Build upon existing connections with artists, moderators, partners, and the broader Bâtard community.
- Foster an inclusive, process-oriented approach to artistic creation, emphasizing production, presentation, participation, and reflection.
- Design innovative formats for festivals and programs that address contemporary societal and artistic issues.
- Collaborate with a network of partners and artists to realize new opportunities and initiatives.
- Apply for funding and manage project-based financial planning.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Visionary approach to curatorial or artistic direction; prior experience not required.
- Familiarity with Brussels’ artistic and social landscapes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to supporting diverse artists and exploring innovative platforms.
- Ability to organize, plan, and coordinate effectively.
Desired:
- Interest in experimenting with new models for artistic platforms.
- Willingness to work flexibly in a non-structurally funded environment.
Financial Transparency
- Funding: The new artistic direction will lead applications for project funding in March or September 2024.
- Remuneration: Limited budget for initial funding applications; no structural subsidy currently ensures full-time roles.
- Support: The outgoing team will provide a comprehensive handover, including skills, knowledge, and network connections.
