The Way Things Are Built (La forma en la que se construyen las cosas): A program to think, make, and share contemporary artistic practices

Submission deadline: June 29, 2026

The Centro Cultural España Córdoba (CCEC), in dialogue with the curatorial direction of Gisela Cassettai, invites artists from various disciplines, curators, researchers, collectives, and cultural workers to submit projects to be part of the curatorial program The Way Things Are Built.

The program proposes to investigate how contemporary artistic practices are produced and transmitted today in Latin America, through projects that work from processes, the intersection of languages, and the relationships between body, matter, archive, and transmission.

About the Program

The program takes place within the framework of the Centro Cultural España Córdoba, which acts as an institutional platform for its deployment, enabling conditions for its activation, articulation, and public projection, in dialogue with its director, Martín Figueroa.

The proposal is conceived and directed by Gisela Cassettai (Argentina).

Objectives

  • Activate the various spaces of the CCEC as a platform for research, production, and circulation of contemporary practices.
  • Generate intersections between exhibition, thought, archive, mediation, and public action.
  • Enable spaces for exchange and transmission between artists, curators, researchers, and audiences.
  • Strengthen ties between the local scene and Latin American networks.
  • Promote projects that work with hybrid formats, situated processes, and intersections between languages.
  • Build a living archive of the program based on its processes, activations, and projects.

Application Lines

The open call is organized into three lines:

Priority will be given to projects that are:

  • site-specific
  • experimental
  • performative
  • interdisciplinary

Selected:

  • 1 intervention proposal

C. Public Programs / Thought / Activations

  • research
  • editorial projects
  • existing cycles, festivals, or initiatives in dialogue with the program
