About Bergen Kunsthall’s Live Studio
Bergen Kunsthall’s Live Studio serves as a dedicated research and development space within the realm of visual arts, focusing on live works and hybrid artistic practices. The Live Studio, situated on the second floor of Bergen Kunsthall with expansive windows overlooking Lille Lungegårdsvannet, is approximately 70m² in size.
Inviting Artists
The Live Studio welcomes international and local artists at various stages of their creative journeys, facilitating artistic progress through both invitation and an annual open call for proposals.
Opportunities in 2024
After a successful pilot year in 2023, Bergen Kunsthall is pleased to offer four 2-week slots to Bergen-based artists in 2024. We invite project proposals at all stages, from initial research and collaboration initiation to project development and refinement.
Our Aim
Bergen Kunsthall aims to provide a platform for artistic practices that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries. We believe that our space, professional equipment, and interactions with our curatorial team will significantly contribute to the advancement of selected artists’ practices.

What We Offer

- The studio is equipped with a PA system
- In-house equipment includes microphones, screens, and projectors

- The Live Studio is accessible 24/7 through its dedicated entrance
- An elevator is available, in addition to three flights of stairs

- All-gender and wheelchair-accessible bathrooms
Sound Levels Disclaimer
Please be mindful of noise levels, as our offices are on the same floor, and there is a gallery space below. Between 09:00—17:00, we kindly request that residents maintain noise levels that “respect the neighbors.” After 17:00, noise restrictions are lifted, except on Thursdays, when the galleries remain open until 20:00.
