GI 2024 – Open Programme application guidelines
The tenth edition of Glasgow International, Scotland’s biennial festival of contemporary art, will take place from Friday 7 – Sunday 23 June 2024, with a preview day on Thursday 6 June.
About Glasgow International
Glasgow International is a collective endeavour rooted in the city’s year-round visual arts ecology, providing an energising context for new projects and collaborations. The biennial festival amplifies the depth and diversity of artistic and curatorial practices in Glasgow and their close dialogues with international artists and communities of exchange. In 2024, Glasgow International’s programme will place equal emphasis on projects developed by the Glasgow International team, by Glasgow arts organisations, and by individual creative practitioners and groups. The festival will centre the forms of collaboration, enquiry and exchange that run across the programme. Presented in locations around Glasgow, it will also reflect the complex permeation of the city’s global histories within contemporary social, cultural and political conditions.
Call for proposals
Glasgow International is seeking proposals for projects to be included in the 2024 festival. This application is open to Glasgow-based:
– contemporary arts organisations and galleries
– artist-run spaces and projects
– community arts organisations
– independent artists, curators, arts organisers and collectives, and arts publishers
For the first time, Glasgow International is also open to project proposals requiring resources for longer-term research and development, with no obligation to present the project at the 2024 festival.
What selected projects can expect
Submitted proposals will be reviewed by a selection panel made up of four external assessors and the Glasgow International curatorial team. Projects selected for the 2024 festival through this open call can expect:
– the inclusion of your project in the publicity materials for Glasgow International 2024
– if you are seeking project funding, a contribution from GI of up to £10,000
– some organisational support, particularly if you are applying as an independent artist or curator
– the opportunity to attend gatherings with other Open Programme project organisers and participants in the build-up to the 2024 festival
– if desired, the photographic documentation of your project by Glasgow International.
