Introduction to X as Intersection
The U.S. Latinx Art Forum (USLAF) proudly introduces “X as Intersection: Writing on Latinx Art.” This new digital initiative aims to showcase short-form essays about Latinx Artist Fellowship recipients and their inspiring ideas.
Project Goals and Collaboration
“X as Intersection” emerges from the creative spirit of fellowship recipients. The initiative aims to bolster creative networks by uniting writers and artists. Together, they will create thematic essays on art, available digitally for free. USLAF and a team of experts co-create this platform, promoting informed discourse on America’s leading visual artists.
Invitation to Contribute: Latinx Unsettling
USLAF invites writers to contribute to “Latinx Unsettling,” the first essay collection curated by Adriana Zavala. Writers should submit proposals that delve into the Latinx identity through 1-2 works by artists like Elia Alba and Coco Fusco. Proposals are due by May 1, 2024.
Editorial Leadership
Adriana Zavala and Mary M. Thomas lead the project, supported by an editorial team of experts. Each team member will oversee a thematic collection, guiding writers in exploring an artist’s work to reveal its complex layers.
Call for Submissions
USLAF calls for essay proposals for upcoming collections. Selected writers will receive an honorarium and editorial support, contributing to the dialogue on Latinx art. Both academic and non-academic writers at any career stage are welcome to submit.
