Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: CAD $185,000–210,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Curator to lead the institution’s artistic, curatorial, collections, and publishing strategy. Reporting as a senior leader within one of North America’s largest art museums, the successful candidate will shape the Gallery’s exhibition programme, acquisitions, scholarly publications, and long-term curatorial vision.

The Chief Curator will foster a culture of artistic excellence, innovation, and collaboration while working closely with artists, curators, collectors, donors, and cultural partners. The role will oversee the development of ambitious exhibitions and collaborative initiatives that strengthen the AGO’s reputation locally, nationally, and internationally, while expanding engagement with diverse audiences.

The successful candidate will play a key role during an important period of institutional growth, including the opening of the Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery in 2027, which will showcase modern and contemporary art from Toronto and around the world.

The AGO is looking for a dynamic leader with extensive curatorial experience, strong knowledge of museum collections and exhibition development, and the ability to inspire interdisciplinary teams while advancing the Gallery’s commitment to artistic excellence, accessibility, inclusion, and sustainability.
