Berlin Art Week takes place from 9–13 September 2026 for the 15th time and brings together leading actors from Berlin’s contemporary art scene. It is a project of Kulturprojekte Berlin, responsible for concept, management, coordination, and communications. During Berlin Art Week, renowned institutions of contemporary art, Berlin galleries and an art fair, private collectors, and selected project spaces present a diverse programme of exhibition openings, events, and special projects. A temporary pop-up location serves as the central festival meeting point, offering an extensive programme that invites visitors to exchange, discover, and participate.
Key Responsibilities
Working in close collaboration with the Artistic Director, the Co-Director is responsible for:
- Project coordination and overall management of Berlin Art Week
- Continuous development and positioning of the project in coordination with the Artistic Director and Head of Department
- Cross-project planning, preparation, and delivery, including scheduling and time management
- Development of internal project structures and processes, including team building and team management, together with the Artistic Director
- Liaison with funders and supporters
- Management and coordination of administrative processes in close cooperation with the Administration department, including:
- Budget planning and controlling, including budget and liquidity monitoring
- Initiation, management, and implementation of tenders and procurement processes, including contract awards and preparation of procurement documentation
- Sponsor management, acquisition of sponsors, and development of partnerships
- Organisational planning and delivery of own events and formats within the festival, including guest management
- Responsible coordination of interfaces between team members and other departments of Kulturprojekte Berlin (department management, technical, administration, communications, etc.)
- Preparation of project documentation, evaluations, and narrative and financial reports
Profile
- Minimum six years of relevant professional experience (including training), demonstrated through a completed degree or equivalent qualification and/or professional experience with comparable responsibilities
- Extensive experience in project management, coordination, and delivery, preferably in a cultural or artistic context
- Very good knowledge of Berlin’s art and cultural landscape
- Proven experience in leading and supervising staff
- Solid experience working with public funding
- Very good German language skills
