KADIST is in search of a Collection Fellow for a 6-month position, dedicating 8-10 hours per week, based in the Asia Pacific region. This role offers a unique opportunity for emerging curators or recent graduates in art history, museum studies, critical writing, or related fields to gain practical experience and skills in an international contemporary art institution.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Collection and Curation
- Research, write original texts on selected artists in the Asia Pacific region.
- Nominate artworks for long-term loans for KADIST programs.
- Participate in the organization-wide review process for video library artworks.
2. Collection Management
- Assist in the administration of loans and logistical aspects.
- Collaborate with collection artists and video editors to create short video content for social media.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate embodies motivation, organization, and a global perspective within the contemporary art non-profit sector. Key attributes include:
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Familiarity with Asia Pacific contemporary artists, artworks, and ideas.
- Strong descriptive writing skills for artworks and artist biographies.
- Willingness to engage in research, discussion, and argumentation.
- Meticulous attention to detail, administrative aptitude, and multitasking abilities.
- Self-driven, autonomous work approach with openness to feedback.
Position Details
- Duration: 6-month commitment, averaging 8-10 hours per week.
- Stipend: USD 5,000.
- Start Date: November 6, 2023 (subject to availability).
- Work Arrangement: Remote, with regular online meetings.
