Job Description
As a Collection Management Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the museum’s transition to its new location. You will be responsible for the professionalization of collection management and the relocation of the collection to the new venue. Your fresh perspective, combined with your current knowledge, will drive new ideas and developments in collection and depot management. Your contributions will facilitate the enhancement of the museum’s collection registration and preservation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a plan for the registration and relocation of objects, including depot arrangements and new storage locations.
- Collaborate with volunteers and the digitization team for further object registration.
- Create a box plan for the new depot.
- Oversee the packing and moving of objects.
- Contribute to the setup of the new permanent exhibition.
- Support various activities, such as photography, and assist in building a collection emergency response plan.
- Coordinate a team of volunteers involved in collection registration, packing, and relocation.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regional museums for collaboration on collection management and other areas.
Candidate Profile
- Completed a relevant higher education degree, preferably Reinwardt Academie or equivalent.
- Less than five years of experience in the heritage and/or cultural sector.
- Knowledge of the latest developments in collection management and registration.
- Proficient in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
- Affinity for art and heritage objects.
- Familiar with Adlib/Axiell.
- Highly detail-oriented and capable of working with precision.
- Practical and proactive with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Positive, flexible, and solution-oriented with strong teamwork skills.
