Overview

The Mucem is seeking a collections and research assistant. This is a 12-month “Career Path and Skills” contract. It includes a training program that helps with skill acquisition. The role requires working under private law within a public institution. It offers 35 hours per week with an option for 80% part-time work. The position is eligible for a PEC contract, and the salary follows PEC contract guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the curators of the “Reading the Sky” exhibition daily.
  • Help prepare the exhibition, ensuring all tasks and responsibilities are met efficiently.
  • Facilitate communications between the curators and all departments involved in setting up the exhibition.
  • Attend all meetings that help plan the exhibition.

Scientific Tasks

  • Keep the artwork list updated and coordinate with lenders.
  • Carry out additional research, including documentary, iconographic, and audiovisual.
  • Oversee scenographic efforts in cooperation with Mucem’s production service and the scenographer.
  • Manage and proofread exhibition texts such as room texts, technical labels, extended labels, timelines, maps, and educational materials.
  • Edit the catalog, assist in list compilation, and work on the bibliography.
