Work Mode: Hybrid (primarily in person, some remote possible)
The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is seeking a Collections Assistant through the Young Canada Works program. The role supports research, documentation, digitization, and exhibition preparation for the museum’s collections and projects, contributing to the preservation and accessibility of Peel Region’s cultural heritage.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing a long-term digital preservation plan.
- Support digitization and file optimization projects.
- Conduct research on Found in Collections objects.
- Assist with exhibition preparation, installation, and de-installation.
- Contribute to object research, documentation, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in museum studies, collections management, or conservation.
- Must meet Young Canada Works eligibility: Canadian citizen/permanent resident/refugee, aged 16–30, recent graduate, legally entitled to work in Canada, not employed full-time elsewhere, and not receiving EI benefits.
- Strong research, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Minisis or other CMS an asset.
- Knowledge of preventive conservation and mixed material collections.
- Experience (paid or volunteer) in a museum, gallery, or archives.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs; driver’s license and First Aid certification are assets.
