Position Overview

A collection in Kolkata is in search of a manager. This person will handle the care and management of a fine art collection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct management of the Fine Art inventory in Kolkata and New Delhi.
  • Maintain detailed records of artworks, including their location and condition.
  • Oversee the physical condition of artworks, regularly conduct condition assessments, and coordinate maintenance with external conservators as needed.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for acquiring new artworks, tracking galleries and auctions, and managing the acquisition process.
  • Lead and supervise the Collections Team in both Kolkata and New Delhi, ensuring tasks align with their Key Result Areas (KRAs).
  • Collaborate with the Collections Advisor and the Art Team, including legal, finance, and administrative departments.

Hiring Process

  • The selection process includes 2-3 interviews and possibly a short assignment.
  • The Art X Company is recruiting for this position on behalf of a client.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Art History, Art Conservation, Art Management, or related fields.
  • Experience in fine art collection management, including inventory, logistics, insurance, and conservation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; basic Bengali is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Essential Experience
  • 10-12 years in collection and object management.
  • Experience in a structured company and in the arts and culture sector is preferred.
