LAS seeks a Community and Outreach Manager for its upcoming commission Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg: Pollinator Pathmaker.
Project Description
Pollinator Pathmaker is a series of living artworks and participatory projects conceived by artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg and launched in 2021.The artworks take the form of gardens which prioritise the needs of pollinators over humans or aesthetics. Ginsberg has developed an algorithm-based planting tool that determines the design of the gardens, each one custom-made for the needs of local pollinators. The project draws attention to gardens as interfaces that connect humans with bees and other endangered pollinators, and opens up wider conversations about climate change, environmental crisis, anthropocentrism and our planet. LAS will launch the first international garden in spring and summer 2023 at a prominent location in Berlin. LAS is collaborating with the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin to adapt the project to the local context, and to offer a broad audience a range of educational programmes focussing on pollinators and their role in our ecosystem. The LAS garden is accompanied by a participatory project calling on local communities to make their own gardens to support the pollinator population. Ginsberg’s planting tool is freely available via the webpage pollinator.art.
