The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Hesse (LfDH) is the state’s monuments authority and as such is part of the Historical Heritage client. The legal tasks of the house include the perception of paleontological and archaeological monument preservation, the preservation of buildings and monuments, the care of the UNESCO world heritage sites in Hesse as well as research into the history of the state. In addition to its headquarters in Biebrich Castle in Wiesbaden, the LfDH maintains branch offices in Darmstadt and Marburg as well as the Archaeological State Museum (ALMhessen) with the locations Keltenwelt am Glauberg and Roman fort Saalburg.
As of September 1, 2022, a two-year limited position as district monument conservator (m/f/d) according to salary group 13, case group 1 TV-H, is to be filled in the department for the preservation of architectural and artistic monuments at the Marburg location.
The district monument conservator (m/f/d) comprehensively represents the interests of practical monument conservation in the area of responsibility.
The areas of responsibility include
– professional advice and preparation of expert opinions on the repair and use of monuments,
– participation in the implementation of the Hessian monument protection law within the framework of the establishment of agreement,
– approval of grants from the state and professional support for the issuance of certificates for tax benefits,
– perception of monument preservation interests as a sponsor public concerns in planning and
– public relations work through lectures, guided tours and publications.
The prerequisite for employment is a university degree in architecture or art history and/or a closely related humanities subject with a professional focus and a diploma, master’s or Magister Artium degree. Completion of a traineeship or postgraduate studies in monument preservation is recommended. A doctorate is desirable, but not a prerequisite. Relevant practical experience in professions related to the preservation of monuments and basic knowledge of the Hessian monument landscape are advantageous. Ability to work in a team, organizational talent, communication and negotiation skills and the ability to present conservative positions convincingly and constructively are required.
The position at the Marburg location, which is limited to two years, is rated according to salary group E13 of the collective agreement for employees in the state of Hesse (TV-H) if the above requirements are met. A tenure for this position is sought.
