The Role
The Art Coordinator role is essential for supporting Sotheby’s Museum and Corporate Art Group. This group, focused on client needs, facilitates transactions and services for institutional and corporate clients. Sotheby’s is renowned for museum sales and offers specialized corporate art services.
Responsibilities
Consignment Coordination
- Oversee consignment management, including valuation coordination, contract management, and logistics.
- Manage pre- and post-sale coordination, ensuring effective communication and organization.
- Track the settlement process to ensure timely payment to consignors.
- Collaborate with Sale Department Coordinators to meet pre- and post-sale deadlines.
Valuations
- Handle museum valuation requests, coordinating with the Valuations department and specialists.
Business Intelligence Tracking
- Maintain a database to track department and competitor activities for museum and corporate clients.
Business Development
- Act as the client liaison for priority clients and support client communication throughout the sale process.
- Coordinate meeting and event logistics and support the Head of Department with travel and expense management.
Business Coordination
- Manage sponsorship invoices and payments and handle financial processes for the division.
General
- Collaborate with colleagues locally and internationally, handle client and employee museum access, and support proposal preparation.
Ideal Experience & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of relevant experience in the art or business sectors.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of the art market and proficiency in relevant software.
- Flexibility for overtime work, including evenings and weekends.
The position offers a base salary ranging from $55,000 to $65,000, plus discretionary bonuses and competitive benefits.
