About Inuit Art Foundation (IAF)

Established in 1987, the Inuit Art Foundation (IAF) is a non-profit, Inuit-led charitable organization dedicated to supporting Canada’s Inuit arts communities. As the sole national body promoting Inuit art within Canada and internationally, IAF advocates for artists and enhances the appreciation of Inuit art. The Inuit Art Quarterly (IAQ) is the only magazine dedicated to Inuit and circumpolar Indigenous art, serving as a platform for Inuit voices to the broader public.

Role Overview

As a key member of the team, the Copy Editor will:

  • Edit submitted articles for clarity, grammar, and spelling.
  • Liaise with the IAQ editorial team, authors, and translators for translated texts.
  • Ensure content conforms to the IAQ style guide.
  • Update and maintain the IAQ style guide.
  • Resolve style and logic issues with editors and authors.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Editing (considered an asset).
  • Experience in an editing role (considered an asset).
  • Excellent communication and computer skills (Google Suite).
  • Interest in Inuit artistic practice.
  • Strong critical thinking and prioritization skills.
  • Interest in professional growth and learning.

About Us

The IAF is an Inuit-led charity advocating for fair practices in the marketing, promotion, and distribution of Inuit art. The team works remotely and onsite in Toronto, ON, on the ancestral territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishnaabe, and the Huron-Wendat.

Status: Permanent, Part-Time (7 hours per week)

Salary: $12,000 based on 7 hours a week
