Overview
Passionate about museums, research, and sharing overlooked stories? Eager for a career in curatorial practice alongside D/deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent curators? Curating Visibility focuses on collections-based work to illuminate neglected narratives through an authentic disability lived experience perspective.
The Role
Seeking three Fellows to develop skills in museum curation through hands-on activities like collections management, conducting research, community partnerships, and planning exhibitions or public events with digital elements. Comprehensive support, access, and training provided.
Vision
Aim to highlight the unseen contributions of D/deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent individuals in museums. The project will redefine museum collections’ views, using disability lived experience to explore and share stories.
About the Project
Created by Accentuate, part of Screen South, the project promotes equity for D/deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent individuals in the cultural sector. With 14 years of experience, Accentuate offers unique perspectives and innovative approaches.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: £23,933 per annum (35 hours/week)

Host Museums
Three placements available at Dover Museum, Food Museum, and Imperial War Museum, Duxford.
Job Responsibilities
- Research museum collections to uncover hidden D/deaf and disability histories.
- Develop and deliver accessible exhibitions/events with a digital focus.
- Collaborate with the Disability Collection Co-production Group.
- Develop key curatorial and project management skills.
Person Specification
No specific qualifications required. Looking for experience in museums, galleries, or cultural institutions. Skills in community engagement, research, and project management are valued.

Selection Process
Applications reviewed by the Curating Visibility team and host museums. Interviews will be conducted with travel expenses covered. Feedback provided to all applicants.
