Instituto Tomie Ohtake is seeking an experienced Curator to join its team in a strategic leadership role. The position involves proposing and coordinating exhibitions, conducting curatorial research, and developing original content in alignment with the institution’s artistic direction and values.

Ideal candidates will have a strong track record in contemporary art curating, particularly within institutional settings, and demonstrate the ability to lead medium- and large-scale exhibitions. A collaborative approach, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to diversity, accessibility, and innovation in curatorial practices are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of curatorial projects in close dialogue with the Artistic Direction
  • Develop and manage exhibitions, from concept to execution
  • Produce original critical content, including curatorial texts, publications, and lectures
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Engage with artists, audiences, and partners with strong communication skills

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contemporary art curation
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international artistic practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to cultural diversity, education, sustainability, and accessibility
  • Ability to work flexibly in a collaborative environment

Desirable Qualifications

  • Proficiency in foreign languages (especially English and/or Spanish)
  • Broad network in the arts
  • Interdisciplinary cultural interests
  • Experience in inclusive and accessible programming
  • Background in socially and environmentally responsible projects
