The BFI seeks a Curator to join its dynamic Screencraft team, overseeing one of the UK’s largest collections of photography, costume and production sketches, and screen-related graphic arts. This new role invites an experienced collections-based professional to lead research, develop participatory outreach programmes, and build new pathways for screen arts engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and interpret public-facing activities including exhibitions, talks, publications, and artist collaborations
- Conduct new research into the collections and secure funding and partnerships
- Manage community outreach initiatives and volunteer engagement
- Drive acquisitions and shape the Screencraft collection’s future focus
- Support loans, disposals, and sustainable collecting strategies
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a museum, gallery, archive, or library setting
- Active researcher in screen-related disciplines (e.g. photography, film, design) with publications
- Track record of socially engaged work with artists and communities
- Skilled in engagement strategy design and audience-focused communication
- Experience managing collection-based projects
