Turner Contemporary is Seeking a Curator for Turner Prize 2019
Deadlines for applications: 12pm on Monday 26 November
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 18 December at Turner Contemporar
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference at a key moment for Turner Contemporary.
One of the best known prizes for the visual arts in the world, the Turner Prize aims to promote public debate around new developments in contemporary British art. Every other year, the prize leaves Tate Britain and is presented at a venue outside London. In 2019 this venue is Turner Contemporary. The prize is named after JMW Turner, a figure who had been innovative and controversial in his own day but is now seen as one of the greatest British artists.
As part of Turner Prize 2019, we will work with partners to welcome the widest range of visitors to engage with contemporary art and create opportunities for everyone to connect with art and artists so they can discover new ways of seeing, learning and thinking.
Curator – Turner Prize 2019 will be one of two Curators working collaboratively on the delivery of the Turner Prize 2019 exhibition in Margate. Working as part of the programming team and reporting to the Head of Exhibitions, as well as working with the Director and Head of Learning and Visitor Experience, colleagues at Tate and the nominated artists, you will plan and manage the Turner Prize exhibition and elements of the associated Public Programme and accompanying interpretation.
A creative and audience-focused individual, you will work closely with colleagues across Turner Contemporary and a wide range of external partners to deliver an exhibition that is a model of excellence regionally, nationally and internationally and which supports Turner Contemporary’s mission and values.
