Position Overview
The Drill Hall Gallery is a venue of choice for many of Australia’s leading contemporary artists, curators and collectors. The Gallery has developed a proud tradition of impeccably presented landmark exhibitions accompanied by scholarly publications. The Gallery also maintains the University Art Collection of approximately 2400 works that reflect important developments in Australian art. The development of this major public art collection demonstrates the University’s continuing commitment to the study, patronage and advancement of the visual arts. The Curator, ANU Art Collection will maintain oversight of the University Art Collection and ensure the preservation and growth of this important cultural asset for the University and its community.
The Curator, ANU Art Collection is responsible for coordinating the receipt, protection, installation, dismantling, removal and storage of exhibition and collection works. The Curator ANU Art Collection will ensure the integrity and security of the objects in the collection by exhibiting, storing and conserving them to museum standards for the enjoyment of the ANU community. The role will engage and inform the ANU community of the objectives of the Drill Hall Gallery and Collection, fostering art appreciation in the ANU community.
To be successful in this role you will have high attention to detail, excellent administration and communication skills, an ability to build strong relationships both internal and external along with a passion for art will be highly desirable.
