SCAD Savannah seeks an experienced curator of exhibitions at the SCAD Museum of Art (MOA), a premier contemporary art museum that features emerging and established international artists.

In this full-time role, you will be an essential part of the museum’s senior team and will provide support, leadership, and vision to all museum areas. You will research, conceptualize, propose, implement, and promote exhibitions for SCAD MOA, as well as the university’s other locations and exhibition venues as needed. In collaboration with curatorial staff, you will maximize the outreach and impact of the exhibition program, write exhibition materials (e.g., marketing, catalogs, didactic text, etc.), and develop and implement community-based educational programs to complement major exhibitions. You will also present curatorial talks and exhibition tours to the SCAD community, patrons, and the general public, among other duties.

The successful candidate has an extensive knowledge of and experience with the technical aspects of installations, museum curatorial practices, and exhibition development. A spectacular communicator with equally exceptional interpersonal skills, the candidate should possess a national and international network in the contemporary art world, as well as the ability to build relationships with artists, institutions, donors, and collectors. The candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, and have a knack of research and writing – evidenced by a strong portfolio of published articles, books, or essays. Specializations in Latin American, African American, or Asian contemporary arts are a welcomed bonus, and the highest ethical standards are essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree (M. A.) in art history, curatorial studies, critical theory required and a minimum of four to five year’s related museum or other exhibition spaces experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive exhibition experience and knowledge of technical aspects of installing works in different mediums
• The candidate must have extensive knowledge of and experience in standard museum curatorial practices, exhibition development and a demonstrated national and international network in the contemporary art world.
• Knowledge of, and an interest in performance art, contemporary design and related disciplines are highly recommended.
• Specialization in curatorial fields like Latin American, African-American or Asian contemporary arts is a plus.
• Outstanding skills in research, writing, and communication, demonstrated by published articles, books or essays.
• Excellent management of logistics, programming, and project management and deadlines in a fast-pace, hands-on environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with artists, other institutions, donors, and collectors are essential.
• Highest ethical standards.
