Curator and/or Associate Curator
As part of the Curatorial team and reporting to the Head of the Curatorial Area, they will be involved in the administration of the Museum’s own collection and in the exhibition programming of the Museum. The selected individuals will develop in-house and traveling exhibitions that engage diverse audiences, exploring ideas and contributing to fulfill the Museum’s mission and objectives.
Additionally, they will conduct art historical research, outreach, and interpretation; produce and publish content; conceive, organize, and develop publication and interpretive materials; and liaise with other areas of the Museum to develop narratives, programs, and content that encourage broad audience participation. Also, they will strengthen relationships with artists, collectors, lenders, and other agents involved in the art field.
Required:
- Advanced university studies, preferably in the artistic field, or equivalent degree and Master’s degree, and knowledge in the theories and practices of Modern and Contemporary Art.
- Professional curatorial experience, at least 4 years, in a museum or equivalent art center, depending on the level of responsibility required for each position, as well as advanced training in art historical research.
- In order to demonstrate the candidate’s research career, a list of curated exhibitions and publications (catalogs, articles, papers, etc.) must be provided.
- A high level of English and Spanish is required; and knowledge of other languages, especially Basque, is an asset.
