Curator – Art Gallery
The Tufts University Art Galleries are dedicated to the presentation of art and the pressing issues of contemporary arts discourse. As the public center for visual arts at Tufts University, the Art Galleries create a dynamic learning space through a responsive program of contemporary art exhibitions, events, collecting, and scholarship, across our two locations in Medford and Boston.
The University Art Galleries department oversees the exhibition spaces in the Shirley and Alex Aidekman Arts Center on the Medford Campus, the galleries at the SMFA at Tufts in Boston, and the Tufts University’s Permanent and Public Art Collection. The Arts Galleries produce three to four main exhibitions each semester between the two campus locations alongside 15-20 curricular-driven installations per year.
What You’ll Do
This is a limited term position ending June 28, 2024.
The Curator develops and oversees the Art Galleries exhibitions and public programming across both locations with the Art Galleries Director. the Curator will also handle the below duties:
- Manage the Collective Futures Fund regional regranting program
- Act as a key liaison for SMFA faculty, staff and students and the general arts community
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a MA or PhD
- 5 years minimum of arts programming and curatorial experience
- Strong writing and communications
- Strong network and knowledge of contemporary artists
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
This is a hybrid position expected to be on campus 4 days per week, and 5 days per week during installment periods. Occasional travel for work as necessary.
Pay Range
Minimum $56,600.00, Midpoint $70,800.00, Maximum $85,000.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
