Amos Rex is seeking a Curator specialising in Art in the Public Realm for a full-time permanent position starting in December 2025 or by agreement. The museum, located in the historic Lasipalatsi building, has become one of Finland’s leading contemporary art institutions, known for ambitious exhibitions and public programmes.
Position Overview
The Curator will develop and deliver exhibitions, commissions, installations, and public programming that explore the role of art in cities and how museums can act as civic platforms. The position requires a strong curatorial vision, excellent communication skills, international networks, and engagement with societal and contemporary artistic issues.
Main Responsibilities
- Curating exhibitions, commissions, and public programmes
- Developing curatorial concepts and writing content for publications and media
- Building long-term relationships with artists
- Supporting research, development, and delivery of exhibitions and events
- Representing the museum publicly and engaging with audiences
- Aligning curatorial content with institutional strategy
Candidate Profile
- MA in art history, curatorial studies, design, urban studies, fine art, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven track record in curating exhibitions, commissions, and public programming
- Experience engaging with audiences and communities
- Strong international networks
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English
- Collaborative, quality-driven, and able to take responsibility for curatorial work
