The Curatorial Department, Tate Modern is responsible for the delivery of exhibitions, collection displays, live events and film programmes, ensuring the highest standard of content and delivery of this programme. It is also responsible for building the modern international aspect of Tate’s collections.

The Film programme is a key aspect of Tate Modern’s artistic programme and a vital part of the vision for the extended Tate Modern building due to be completed by 2016, which will include a purpose-built live performance space and film screening room embedded in the collection galleries.

This post offers an opportunity to join Tate at what is a very exciting time in the development of the film programme and the gallery as a whole. You will conceive and deliver a visionary and innovative film programme as well as commissioned projects and related events for one of the world’s leading galleries while at the same time raising your own international profile and developing your career.

You will be involved in everything from spearheading the film programme, contributing to the displays in relation to film and international art as well as being a central figure in the acquisitions of film, video and other audio/visual material. You will also support the senior management team and contribute to the overall vision of Tate.

You will have a relevant degree and post-graduate degree in the history of art or related field. In addition, you will be an experienced curator or specialist with expert knowledge in international art particularly in the medium of film and time based media, with extensive experience of programming diverse and imaginative film events as well as fluency in the processes involved in staging film displays and screenings. You will possess a high level of knowledge and understanding of issues surrounding collecting film and time based media within a global museum context as well as an established network of contacts in the field. You will also be a first class communicator who can write for a variety of audiences.
