Curator for Art and Creative Practices
We are looking for a full-time curator for the Aalto University exhibition spaces associated with Art and Creative Practices (ACP). At Aalto University ACP includes numerous galleries, exhibition spaces and display venues for artworks, artifacts, events, and other materials (see, for example, showcase.aalto.fi).
The position is fixed-term and will be filled for 1 year. The starting date is 1st January 2018.
Job responsibilities
The work of the curator involves organizing and curating exhibitions throughout the entire university. The content is developed in relationship with the changing demands of the university, society, and the curatorial and cultural field. We put an emphasis on developing ways to promote educational thinking in an open conversational and dialogic manner. The exhibitions will be organized and mediated to create a vibrant environment for different communities to experience a variety of perspectives, to embrace imagination, intuition and exploration.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the curatorial field and exhibition design, excellent communication skills in English, and organizational and independent working skills. Outstanding networking skills together with a vision for various exhibition contexts is essential, as well as the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. All of the work is produced in cooperation with the Aalto Community and external stakeholders.
