Opportunity Overview
Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle (Saale), Germany, is seeking a Curator for the “Planetary Peasants” exhibition project. This role offers a chance to significantly contribute to a major exhibition from May to September 2025. The exhibition will explore global challenges through contemporary art.
Exhibition Focus
The exhibition will examine how artists address issues arising from rapid climate change. It will explore their responses to global social changes, shifts in political systems, and the ownership of natural resources. The role of artists in representing diverse societies and the impact of worldwide refugee movements will also be a focus.
Historical Context
The exhibition marks the 500th anniversary of the German Peasants’ War in 1525. It will draw parallels between the historical demands for resource sharing and social participation and contemporary social changes and injustices.
Responsibilities
Conception
- Collaborate with museum management to draft and refine the exhibition concept.
- Select artists and works for the exhibition.
Loans and Loan Transport
- Communicate with artists and representatives.
- Assist in arranging loans for the exhibition.
Presentation
- Develop the scenographic concept with museum management.
- Draft exhibition content texts.
Catalogue
- Conceive a publication for the exhibition.
- Coordinate the editorial process.
Opening
- Participate in the press conference and exhibition opening.
- Conduct a guided tour for special guests.
Accompanying Program
- Prepare audio guide content.
- Deliver lectures and public curator tours.
