The LWL Museum of Art and Culture in Münster is seeking a highly motivated, conceptually driven Curator for Publications to join the team for the upcoming edition of Skulptur Projekte Münster 2027, one of Europe’s leading exhibitions for art in public space.

This role centers on the academic and curatorial development of the exhibition’s catalog and related digital/print publications, in collaboration with artists, designers, scholars, and editors. The 2027 edition will be directed by the internationally renowned curatorial collective What, How & for Whom/WHW (Ivet Ćurlin, Nataša Ilić, and Sabina Sabolović), known for their socially engaged, collaborative approach to curating.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptual development and editing of the Skulptur Projekte 2027 catalog in collaboration with artists, curators, and editors, through to final digital or printed publication and distribution

  • Design and execution of additional analog and digital publication formats contextualizing the exhibition from an academic and discursive perspective

  • Close collaboration with the curatorial team, city administration, and project management in implementing the exhibition and related programming

  • Contribution to public programs, including lectures, media appearances, and events

  • Documentation and archival research in coordination with the LWL Museum departments to support the ongoing development of the Skulptur Projekte Archive

  • Participation in grant writing and third-party funding acquisition

  • MA (or equivalent) in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Cultural Studies, Political Science, Anthropology, Visual Culture, or a related field

  • Demonstrated expertise in art publishing, both digital and print

  • Experience writing and editing art-theoretical and curatorial texts, and managing complex editorial workflows

  • Deep engagement with contemporary art and art in public space, especially in discursive and interdisciplinary contexts

  • Professional experience in art institutions, ideally with collaborative curatorial teams and public space projects

  • International network within the contemporary art world

  • Fluency in German and English is desirable (though not explicitly stated, may be required for publishing work)

  • Experience in media outreach and public engagement
