About the Role:
Tate Britain is seeking a Curator of Historic British Art from the period c.1790–1850. The successful candidate will work within the Historic British Art team at Tate Britain and take on responsibilities for the Turner Bequest and major holdings of Constable and the Oppé collection. The role involves conducting research, writing, managing exhibitions, and overseeing the permanent display of artworks, contributing to the broader understanding and accessibility of this part of Tate’s collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop a high level of specialist expertise on British art from 1790–1850, including key artists such as Turner and Constable.
- Research and propose acquisitions, curate exhibitions, and manage displays in line with Tate’s priorities.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders and represent Historic British Art at Tate.
- Mentor Assistant Curators and collaborate across departments to enhance public engagement with Tate’s collection.
