Curator-in-Residence in Social and Environmental Justice in the Arts

Western University invites applications for a Curator-in-Residence focused on social and environmental justice in the arts. Running from mid-August to mid-May, the residency offers a total stipend of $50,000 (paid in installments) and requires regular on-campus presence, with an emphasis on in-person engagement rather than virtual participation.
The selected curator will develop and pursue their own curatorial projects while actively engaging with the university community through teaching, mentorship, and public programming.
Programme Highlights
- Weekly office hours (3 hours) to mentor students, faculty, and community members
- Visits to classes within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (upon invitation)
- Organization of at least two public events per semester (talks, workshops, studio visits, etc.)
- Development of curatorial work focused on social and environmental justice
- Access to facilities including artLAB Gallery, Centre for Sustainable Curating, and specialized studios
Eligibility Criteria
- Curators with experience or strong interest in social and environmental justice in the arts
- Ability to engage with academic and public audiences
- Background in curatorial practice, research, or related fields
- Strong communication and community engagement skills
