Job Opportunity Overview
The British Museum in Bloomsbury is seeking a Curator for Modern and Contemporary Prints. This role entails managing one of the UK’s most extensive print collections from 1900 to the present. The curator will focus on collection development, fundraising for acquisitions, organizing exhibitions, and sharing expertise with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a specialist and general expert of modern and contemporary graphic works.
- Communicate expert knowledge in a compelling manner to varied audiences.
- Publish scholarly works related to the collection and broader museum research themes.
- Develop and coordinate exhibitions and displays based on new research.
- Assist in fundraising and recommend acquisitions to enhance the collection.
- Maintain and enhance online records of approximately 40,000 modern and contemporary prints.
Candidate Requirements
- Must have a degree in Art History, History, or a related field.
- Proficient in English and at least one European language.
- Minimum of five years curatorial experience in modern and contemporary prints.
- Proven ability in managing curatorial records and databases.
- Demonstrated success in income generation and publishing in the field.
