Reporting to the Management, the Curator of Research and Programs at Artium Museoa will be responsible for proposing, designing, producing, and successfully completing projects that align with the museum’s strategic objectives in the areas of Exhibitions, Collection, Documentation Center, Education, and Public Programs. They must also be capable of proposing and managing editorial projects and generating critical and dissemination texts related to the programs under their purview and the museum’s discursive lines.
The role requires configuring and leading cross-functional teams to develop the proposed programs and managing the assigned budget. The responsibilities also include fostering collaboration networks with other academic and cultural institutions, both nationally and internationally, and identifying potential alternative funding sources for the museum’s programs within their area of responsibility.
Thus, the role involves the design, production, and management of specific research projects of a curatorial, academic, educational, and editorial nature for Artium Museoa, in dialogue with the museum’s content areas—Exhibitions, Collection, Documentation Center, Education, Public Programs. Additionally, they will oversee the overall coordination of public programs and partnerships with other institutions and entities within the framework of the institution’s active collaborations.
The selected candidate must have extensive knowledge of the history of contemporary art. They should also be familiar with contemporary artistic practices and debates, both within the Basque Country’s geographical context and at the national and international levels. Similarly, they must have experience in developing research projects and programs related to cultural thought and action linked to the mentioned areas.
Requirements:
- A higher university degree in Arts and Humanities, preferably in Art History. Specialized training in contemporary art and relevant functions of the position will be valued.
- Proven experience of at least five years in managing and producing programs in the described areas of knowledge within cultural institutions, museums, and/or cultural projects.
- Demonstrable ability in academic research, as well as producing dissemination texts and critical writings in the area of contemporary art and thought.
- Ability to propose projects in collaboration with academic and cultural institutions at the national and international levels.
- Experience in budget and team management will be valued.
- Knowledge of the official languages of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, ensuring sufficient communication skills. If not accredited in the case of the official languages, learning will be required within a set timeframe.
- A high level of English is required, and knowledge of other languages will be valued.
