This is a two-year position from approximately July 2024 to June 2026 (start date negotiable). The job will mainly take place in the gallery, on Concordia’s SGW campus in Montréal, with some remote work possible. Support for travel and professional development is available.

Job Description
The FOFA Gallery seeks a Curator of Sustainability to lead its sustainability initiatives over a two-year period. The selected candidate will manage activities related to sustainable signage, exhibition design, experimental labs, training sessions, material repurposing, and communication with partners and funders. They will have the opportunity to propose new initiatives and related programming, working collaboratively with the FOFA Gallery’s team to experiment and share information throughout networks.
Key Qualifications
- Interest in contemporary arts and culture
- Knowledge of sustainability practices
- MA or MFA in Art History, Curatorial Studies, or Studio Arts (or related fields/experience)
- Experience in curating, project management, research, education, or exhibition practice
- Bilingual: Good spoken English and French; excellent writing skills in either language
- Superior communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with environmental responsibility in galleries, museums, and contemporary artistic practice
- Experience coordinating projects, leading teams, and managing project budgets
- Creative, open, and experimental attitude
Description of Tasks
- Oversee the Gallery’s sustainability initiatives
- Coordinate sustainable signage and exhibition design projects
- Research and plan waste auditing
- Design and run experimental material labs
- Coordinate with other galleries/art spaces for training/consultation with FOFA gallery technicians
- Oversee communications and outreach related to the project
- Compile and share information about project findings
- Track sectoral changes and propose improvements
- Liaise with artists, curators, technicians, students, faculty, and community members
- Seek out new project partners and explore information/resource sharing
- Research and apply for additional funding opportunities
- Update and maintain accurate records and files
