2026 Frieze and Goethe-Institut Curator Travel Grant

Application deadline: 23.59pm BST on 31 July 2026

Three Germany-based curators will receive funded travel, VIP access to Frieze London and Frieze Masters, and the opportunity to meet leading art world figures

Applications are now open for the Frieze Curator Travel Grant 2026, an initiative from Frieze in partnership with London’s Goethe-Institut. The grant offers three Germany-based curators the opportunity to participate in an immersive, funded curatorial visit to London during Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2026

The Goethe-Institut is Germany’s internationally active cultural institute, present in 100 countries worldwide. With a longstanding commitment to fostering international cultural exchange and supporting the arts, the Goethe-Institut London works to build connections between German cultural practitioners and the wider global arts community. This partnership with Frieze reflects a shared ambition to open doors for curators from Germany to engage with one of the world’s most significant contemporary art fairs.

The selected curators will receive:

  • Flights and accommodation in London from 13 – 17 October, organized by the Goethe-Institut London
  • VIP access to Frieze London and Frieze Masters fairs
  • A week-long itinerary of panel discussions, and museum and gallery visits
  • Opportunities to connect with leading figures in the global art world

The selection panel consists of Eva Langret (director, Frieze EMEA), Leonie Mir (head of VIP, Frieze EMEA), Mario Schruff (visual arts and music programme Manager, Goethe-Institut London) and Nicolas Ehler (director, head of culture department, Goethe-Institut London).
