Position Summary
The Curatorial Assistant supports the Curators and Artistic Director by facilitating daily operations and preparing exhibitions. This full-time position is part of the union and adheres to the Museum’s labor agreement with Local 2110, UAW. Benefits include the New Museum’s employee programs. The role, currently hybrid, requires three days of onsite work per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support: Assist the Artistic Director and Curators with daily administrative tasks such as handling inquiries, arranging travel, managing expenses, and maintaining records.
- Exhibition Coordination: Support the preparation of exhibitions by conducting research, managing checklists, and coordinating loan processes. Also assists with exhibition design and document circulation.
- Project Assistance: Collaborate with artists, studios, and galleries on new commissions and artwork production.
- Publication Support: Manage the publication schedule for exhibitions, communicate with contributors, and ensure quality of printed materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in art history or curatorial studies (Master’s preferred).
- At least three years of experience in administrative or project coordination roles within museums or galleries.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and SketchUp.
