The Curatorial Assistant is a full-time role supporting the Chief Curator and Curator of Native American Art. This position serves as a departmental liaison, managing information, research, and external requests related to exhibitions.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with departments to maintain exhibition schedules and public programs.
  • Arrange departmental and event meetings, including travel and catering.
  • Prepare and manage Art Committee documents and departmental budgets.
  • Prepare exhibition checklists and layout images in 3D models.
  • Conduct research and draft exhibition texts.
  • Provide clerical support and supervise part-time clerical staff.
  • Manage external rights and reproduction requests for MAM object photography.
  • Support data entry in collections database and lead tours for select groups.

Requirements

  • Highly organized with excellent clerical, computer, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Zoom, Photoshop, and database management is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; background in museum studies, art history, or American studies preferred.
  • Attention to detail, proactive, flexible, and collaborative.

Hours/Benefits

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours weekly, with occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Hybrid position with some remote work.
  • Includes benefits and vacation package.
