Contract: Part-time (31 hours per week), fixed term (1 March 2025 – 30 September 2025)

Museum Folkwang is seeking a Curatorial Assistant for the upcoming exhibition “William Kentridge. Listen to the Echo,” scheduled from 4 September 2025 to 18 January 2026. The assistant will support various aspects of the exhibition, including catalog editing, procurement processes, detailed planning of the exhibition setup, and text editing for introductory texts, wall texts, exhibition flyers, and press releases in both German and English.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in catalog editing: obtaining image templates, clarifying image rights, communicating with catalog authors, assisting in proofreading German texts, coordinating with translators, and final checks before printing.
- Support in preparing procurement processes related to the exhibition project.
- Contribute to detailed planning of the exhibition setup: developing schedules in collaboration with the technical coordinator, external exhibition architect, and service providers.
- Assist in text editing for introductory texts, wall texts, exhibition flyers, and press releases in both German and English.
Qualifications:
- Completed studies in art history, cultural studies, or a comparable field.
- In-depth knowledge of art history and practical experience in museums, galleries, or similar institutions.
- Familiarity with exhibition, collection, and project management in a cultural institution.
- Knowledge of procurement and tendering processes is desirable.
- Proficient in German and English, both written and spoken.
- Intercultural competencies are advantageous.
