Curatorial Assistant for Project and Exhibition Implementation

Hamburger Kunsthalle seeks a curatorial assistant (m/w/d) for project and exhibition implementation on a full-time fixed-term contract, covering parental leave until 20 September 2026.

Position Details

Contract type: Fixed-term, full-time (39 hours/week)
Salary: According to TV-AVH pay scale, Entgeltgruppe 9b
Start: As soon as possible

Responsibilities

Organize, coordinate, and support special projects and new productions in close collaboration with artists, lenders, curators, and technical teams
Digital and analog documentation of collection objects, loans, and loan requests
Administrative assistance to collection managers, curators, and researchers
Research, order, and check materials needed for production and implementation of artworks
Temporary representation of staff in the collection secretariat

Requirements

Completed university degree (BA) in art or cultural studies or equivalent qualification
Relevant experience in exhibition organization and art production
Good knowledge of exhibition production workflows
Background knowledge in image, copyright, and reproduction rights
Experience with MuseumPlus database and MS Office
High level of teamwork, reliability, and autonomy
Good German and English skills
