The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is Seeking a Curatorial Assistant, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project

Location: New York, United States (regular travel to Abu Dhabi, UAE)
Contract: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Hybrid eligible; hours vary based on position
Salary: $63,654 annually

The Guggenheim is seeking a Curatorial Assistant to support the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project under the guidance of the Senior Curator of Collections. This role involves assisting with curatorial research, acquisitions, collection management, and departmental administration while engaging with the UAE and regional art communities.

Responsibilities

Support research, organization, and implementation of acquisitions and collection initiatives
Manage curatorial databases and project archiving (TMS and/or Emu)
Assist with preparation of exhibitions, publications, and inaugural collection display
Maintain schedules, agendas, and administrative support for curatorial meetings
Prepare scholarly reports, PowerPoint presentations, and label copy for collection works
Oversee project interns and contribute to departmental activities
Participate in research trips, studio visits, and curatorial seminars
Collaborate with DCT Abu Dhabi curatorial and collections management team

Requirements

M.A. in Art History preferred or equivalent
Background in modern and contemporary art with expertise in global art history
Strong curatorial research skills and organizational abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility, independence, and proactive judgment
Proficiency with collection management databases (TMS/Emu) and Microsoft Office
Experience working cross-culturally; willingness to travel internationally
Preferred: proficiency in a West Asian or South Asian language and one European language
