Curatorial Assistant, Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University
Reporting to the Director of the Cantor and working with the curatorial team, the curatorial assistant will facilitate the development and implementation of museum acquisitions, exhibitions, publications, and programs.Candidates should have excellent writing, research, and organization skills; outstanding attention to detail and accuracy; familiarity with art history and relevant research sources; and proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Embark. An M.A. in art history is strongly preferred. Familiarity with trends in global contemporary art including artists, institutions, dealers and collectors is desirable.
CORE DUTIES*:
• Assist with the research, development and implementation of changing exhibitions and collection rotations, including the drafting of routine correspondence such as loan letters, donation acknowledgements, and other curatorial reports
• Provide administrative assistance as required, including arranging travel and accommodation for artists and speakers
• Assist with oversight of production of museum publications
• Maintain exhibition and publication checklists.
• Maintain direct contact with artists and their gallerists and collectors for the purpose of exhibition and program planning.
• Assist with development of educational programming and oversee implementation and presentation of lectures, symposia and films
• Assist with cataloging collections, preparing registration materials, and planning gallery rotations

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor of Arts degree (Master of Arts preferred) – preferably in Art History, Arts Administration, Studio Art, or Museum Studies
• Two years of relevant, professional experience in the planning, project management, and preparation of art exhibitions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with a wide range of people at different levels of an organization and collaborate effectively
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities, with competing deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and database management applications.
• Project management skills.
• Experience in visual arts highly desired.
• Existing network of professional contacts in these categories
• Exhibition coordination/registration experience in a gallery or museum setting
