This role offers a unique opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a passion for art history to join the Harvard Art Museums as a Curatorial Assistant for Special Exhibitions and Publications (CASEP).
Job Summary
As a Curatorial Assistant, you will provide vital support for the development and production of special exhibitions, their accompanying publications, and major collections catalogs within the Division of European and American Art.
Position Description
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing exhibitions and related publications.
- Coordinate logistical aspects such as checklists, loan requests, and exhibition catalogues.
- Support the preparation and publication of major catalogues of the permanent collections.
- Assist in grant proposals, fundraising narratives, and project budgets.
- Contribute to in-gallery and online content related to exhibitions and publications.
- Act as a liaison for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with various internal departments for seamless execution.
- Provide clerical and administrative support as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in humanities or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years of directly related experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Strong background in European and/or American art history preferred.
- Museum experience advantageous.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in word processing and database management.
- Flexibility, punctuality, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based position.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 15 pounds.
- Occasional travel to other Harvard Art Museums sites may be required.

- On-site position with potential for hybrid or flexible work schedule.
- Some evening and weekend work may be necessary.
